What does my school have to offer that no other school does? Let me tell you what it is: people. Sure, your other schools may have “people” too, but do they have amazing people? The kind of diversity that makes you double take in wonder? The nicest of people that are all too eager to help you out, regardless of if you know them or not? We have events dedicated to being ridiculous, and people who come to them intending to live out every ridiculous moment to the fullest. Oozeball, where the secondary objective is to win at volleyball, and the primary objective to get as dirty as possible. People get so involved, they tell people not to go inside buildings because of how muddy they are. There’s a dinner event where the food is sub par, and yet a giant crowd shows up anyway, not for the food, but for the fantastic people you’ll meet and the friends you’ll inevitably find.
You see people with a whole manner of haircuts in various colors, and a whole manner of silly hats of all colors. And that’s not even mentioning the number of colorful personalities. My school has girls and guys who go to class on skateboards, bikes, rollerblades and scooters. I saw a guy once who was walking into the cafeteria with a unicycle. Our commitment to athletics is astounding. (It also happens to cut commuting time in half!) Our school has the most fun, most unique, most friendly people. If anything else, our school has an amazing community.
They are so helpful to me because they are the people who will help me study for my tests and will look at my drawings for my graphic design major and tell me how to improve. They are the people who will tell me where to head if I’m lost on campus, and what my options are when I’m lost on my career path. The teachers even are my friends, as they are so fun, amazing, and know all there is to know for me to move forward. People are what is needed to grow and learn, and there is no better place for me to be.
